Burrillville Man Dies Months After Recovering From Violent Stabbing
A 23-year-old Burrillville man who survived a brutal stabbing earlier this year has tragically passed away, months after being discharged from the hospital. Authorities confirmed that the man died on Tuesday from an undisclosed medical condition unrelated to the original assault.
The incident occurred on March 24, 2024, when the victim was attacked inside a home on Lake Drive in the Pascoag section of town. He suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest following a confrontation with a 17-year-old suspect from Windsor, Connecticut. Emergency crews responded quickly, and the man was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital in critical condition.
Despite the severity of his injuries, the young man made a remarkable recovery. After weeks of intensive treatment and rehabilitation, he was released from the hospital and had begun resuming aspects of daily life, with support from friends, family, and the wider Burrillville community.
“He was a fighter,” said a family friend. “We were so proud of how far he had come.”
His unexpected passing this week has come as a shock to loved ones. While the exact cause has not been made public, family members have asked for privacy, noting only that his death was due to a sudden, unrelated medical condition.
The teen suspect in the March incident continues to face charges of attempted murder and is currently involved in legal proceedings in Rhode Island’s juvenile court system.
A candlelight vigil is being planned in Burrillville to honor the young man’s life and the resilience he showed following the attack.
“He overcame so much,” said one neighbor. “It’s heartbreaking to lose him now.”
Authorities have not released further details on funeral arrangements, though the family is expected to make a statement later this week.
