From Setbacks to Comeback: Bryce Hopkins’ Inspiring Return to the Court
After two seasons of highs, lows, and injury setbacks, former Providence Friars star Bryce Hopkins is writing the next chapter of his basketball journey—this time in St. John’s red and white. Once considered one of the most promising forwards in the Big East, Hopkins is now on a mission to prove that adversity doesn’t define him—resilience does.
Hopkins transferred to St. John’s University in April 2025 after a knee injury sidelined him during a crucial stretch at Providence. Despite the physical and emotional toll, he never lost his drive. Over 50 starts with the Friars, he averaged 15.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game—numbers that show his undeniable talent when healthy.
“I’ve been through a lot these last two years,” Hopkins said in a heartfelt statement. “But I’m ready. I still have so much to give to this game.”
Now under the guidance of legendary coach Rick Pitino, Hopkins has found a new home that believes in his potential. Pitino has praised his work ethic and mental toughness, calling him “a fighter with something to prove.”
The move represents more than just a change of scenery—it’s a fresh start. Hopkins enters the 2025–26 season not only as a key player for St. John’s but as an emotional anchor and veteran presence for a team aiming to return to national relevance.
Bryce Hopkins’ story is no longer just about the pain of injury—it’s about the power of perseverance. And this comeback season might just be hi
s best yet.
