Pride of Oklahoma to Perform National Anthem at 2025 FIFA Club World Cup Opening Ceremony
Norman, OK — May 12, 2025
The University of Oklahoma’s renowned “Pride of Oklahoma” Marching Band has been selected to perform the United States national anthem at the opening ceremony of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. The global event will take place on June 14, 2025, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
This historic invitation marks a milestone achievement for the band, which has long been a cornerstone of the university’s tradition and excellence. Known for their precision, power, and pageantry, the Pride of Oklahoma will become the first college marching band to perform at the opening of a FIFA Club World Cup.
The 2025 edition of the tournament will be the first held in the United States and is set to feature 32 of the world’s top club teams. The opening ceremony will spotlight global unity, music, and culture, with the band’s stirring rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” setting the tone for the month-long tournament.
Dr. Justin Stolarik, Director of the Pride of Oklahoma, expressed immense pride in the honor: “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Our students have shown incredible dedication, and to represent the University of Oklahoma—and the entire country—on this stage is beyond special.”
The band’s inclusion comes shortly after being named the world’s best marching band by ESPN following a widely acclaimed performance earlier this year, further solidifying their global reputation.
As eyes around the world turn to Miami for this landmark sporting event, the Pride of Oklahoma will not only represent the university but also the musical spirit of American collegiate excellence on an international stage.
