COLLEGE PARK, Md. — In a bold move that underscores Maryland wrestling’s continued rise, Head Coach Alex Clemsen has officially promoted Nick Brascetta to Associate Head Coach for the 2024–25 season.

Brascetta, who joined the program in 2019, has been a cornerstone of the Terps’ progress. “Nick Brascetta has functioned as our associate head coach since he got to College Park,” Clemsen said. “By now naming him so officially, it shows the world all the hard work and dedication he has put in since day one.”

During Brascetta’s tenure, Maryland has seen significant gains, including landing the eighth-ranked 2021 recruiting class featuring standout names like Braxton Brown, Jaxon Smith, and Ethen Miller. These athletes have since become key contributors, helping Maryland achieve back-to-back seasons with five NCAA qualifiers and a historic performance at the 2024 Big Ten Championships.

Alongside Brascetta’s promotion, the program also announced the elevation of Elijah Oliver and Ethan Laird to full-time assistant coaching roles. In a strategic addition, All-American Cole Matthews, formerly of Pittsburgh, joins the staff as Special Assistant to the Head Coach.

With a reinforced coaching lineup and a strong core of athletes, Maryland wrestling is gearing up for a breakthrough season, aiming to solidify its place among the nation’s top programs.
