Providence Friars Bolster Roster with Key Transfers Ahead of 2025-26 Season
Providence College’s men’s basketball team has made significant additions to its roster in preparation for the upcoming 2025-26 season. The Friars have secured commitments from two notable transfers: forward Cole Hargrove and guard Daquan Davis.
Cole Hargrove, a 6-foot-8 forward from Drexel University, brings a strong presence to the Friars’ frontcourt. In the previous season, Hargrove averaged 9.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, demonstrating his ability to contribute effectively on both ends of the court.
Joining Hargrove is 6-foot-1 guard Daquan Davis, who transfers from Florida State University. Davis averaged 8.8 points, 2.5 assists, and 2.3 rebounds per game during his tenure with the Seminoles. His addition addresses a critical need for the Friars, especially following the departure of previous point guard Bensley Joseph.
These acquisitions come as Providence aims to improve upon their performance from the 2024-25 season, where they concluded with a 12-20 record. The integration of Hargrove and Davis is expected to provide both experience and skill to the team’s lineup, potentially enhancing their competitiveness in the Big East Conference.
In contrast, former Providence forward Bryce Hopkins has transferred to Big East rival St. John’s University. Hopkins, who previously played for Kentucky before joining Providence, faced knee injuries that limited his participation over the past two seasons. Despite these challenges, he maintained averages of 15.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game during his time with the Friars.
As the Friars continue their offseason preparations, these roster changes signal a strategic effort to strengthen the team’s core and build momentum heading into the
new season.
