The NBA on Thursday made public the whole schedule for 2024–2025, so fans can now plan their Christmas viewing schedule with precision. Not surprisingly, the Los Angeles Lakers have a hand in it. For the primetime match at 8 p.m. ET, the Lakers will travel to San Francisco to take on the Golden State Warriors. That’s completely awful for one individual, at least. It is none other than LeBron James. The NBA’s all-time leading scorer let us know how bad it is, so we know it stinks. That was back in 2015, when the Cleveland Cavaliers were preparing for a road game against the Golden State Warriors. According to ESPN:”Unfortunately, I won’t be spending Christmas with my family. They’re not even in Ohio at the moment. They are, in fact, now in Los Angeles. We don’t have any traditions, therefore no. We’ll establish a Christmas tradition if I can obtain a home game. LeBron, regrettably, is a Christmas classic. He will be playing NBA basketball for the 19th Christmas. LeBron James’s teams have played on Christmas for 17 straight years, split between the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, and Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron will be playing professional basketball on television for the eighteenth year in a row this Christmas.LeBron will awaken in a hotel room on Christmas morning for the tenth time. Although it’s his eleventh Christmas away game, the Cavs went to Miami in 2014 following his departure from the Heat, and he has a house there. It’s also plausible that the league continued sending him to Los Angeles for the holidays, which is why he purchased his first home there. He has six Christmas games under his belt, either for the Lakers or against them. Despite having played in Cleveland and Miami for the first fifteen years of his career, this will be his eleventh Christmas in California. The good news is that, with Bronny James selected by the Lakers in the second round this year, he might get to spend the entire day with his oldest kid. If Bronny joins the Lakers, it will probably be the first time since he was two years old in 2006 that he gets to spend the entire day with his father. In the event that LeBron plays in 2025–2026 and is slated to play around Christmas once more, it would be prudent for the Lakers to provide 10-day contracts to Bryce, Zhuri, and Savannah. It would be a kind gesture, especially since December 30th is his birthday.Basketball fans haven’t celebrated the holidays without LeBron James for almost 20 years. There will be a gaping vacuum in the NBA calendar and in the Christmas plans of all sports fans when he eventually does retire.
