Manchester United Prepare £25 Million Bid for Burnley Midfielder Sander Berge

Manchester United are preparing to make a formal £25 million bid for Burnley’s midfield star Sander Berge, as the Red Devils look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

Berge, 26, has been a standout performer for Burnley, attracting interest from several top clubs. United, keen to bolster their midfield options, have identified the 6ft 5in Norwegian international as a key target after their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte stalled over valuation issues.

According to sources, Manchester United are ready to offer Berge a lucrative contract worth around £100,000 per week, a figure that has reportedly convinced the player to agree to personal terms. However, the two clubs are yet to settle on a transfer fee. Burnley, who are reluctant to lose Berge, are holding out for £30 million, while United’s initial bid is expected to be around £25 million, including add-ons.

Berge, who has also played for Sheffield United in the Premier League, has been praised for his versatility, capable of playing in defensive, central, and attacking midfield roles. His performances have earned him high praise, with former teammate John Egan dubbing him “unbelievable.”

Despite suffering two relegations from the Premier League, Berge has remained a coveted talent, and a move to Old Trafford would represent a significant step in his career.

United’s pursuit of Berge comes as they continue to explore other midfield options. Talks have been held with AS Monaco regarding Youssouf Fofana, and while interest in Ugarte remains, a deal appears unlikely unless PSG dramatically lowers their asking price. Additionally, Sofyan Amrabat, who spent last season on loan at United, remains on the club’s radar, though any move for him is pending a decision from INEOS, United’s new majority stakeholder.

With the transfer window ticking down, Manchester United are eager to finalize their squad, and securing Berge could be a crucial addition to Erik ten Hag’s midfield as the Red Devils aim to challenge for silverware in the upcoming season.
