JUST IN NOW: Liverpool Outshines Man United For Manu Kone Signature

Liverpool and Manchester United Eye Manu Kone for Midfield Reinforcements

Liverpool are keeping their options open in the pursuit of a defensive midfielder, with Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone emerging as a key target. According to reports from Give Me Sport, Liverpool have added Kone to their list of potential signings as they seek to bolster their midfield options.

Liverpool’s primary target remains Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad, but doubts over the Spaniard’s willingness to leave his current club have prompted Liverpool to consider alternative options. Alongside Kone, Morten Frendrup is also under consideration.

Kone, a versatile and combative midfielder, was previously linked with Liverpool last summer, but an early-season injury hindered any potential move. Now fully recovered, the 23-year-old Bundesliga star has been offered to several teams, including Liverpool, who are contemplating a move.

Kone’s ability to play both as a defensive midfielder and in more advanced roles adds to his appeal. His tenacity in midfield could make him a valuable asset for Liverpool, though it remains to be seen if manager Arne Slot will opt for such a profile or seek a more specialized holding midfielder.

Liverpool are not the only club interested in Kone. Manchester United are also keen on the 23-year-old, with his combative style fitting the profile desired by manager Erik ten Hag. United, like Liverpool, have their sights set on multiple targets after talks for Manuel Ugarte stalled. Among their other options are Liverpool target Sander Berge and Youssouf Fofana.

As the transfer window progresses, the paths of Liverpool and Manchester United may cross more than once in their pursuit of midfield reinforcements, with Manu Kone being a significant point of interest for both Premier League giants.
