Double DNF Woes for Kyle Larson in Grueling Race Weekend

July 21, 2025 – Loudon, NH

It was a weekend to forget for Kyle Larson, as the NASCAR star endured a rare double DNF (Did Not Finish) in both Saturday’s Xfinity Series race and Sunday’s Cup Series main event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Larson, who entered the weekend riding a wave of strong performances, saw his efforts unravel after suffering mechanical issues in the Xfinity race, followed by a crash midway through the Cup race. Both incidents forced him to retire early, marking his first double DNF weekend in nearly three seaso byns.

“Definitely not what we were hoping for,” Larson said after Sunday’s race. “We had speed in both cars, but luck just wasn’t on our side.”

Saturday’s Xfinity race saw Larson’s No. 17 Chevrolet suffer a fuel pump failure while running inside the top five. On Sunday, contact with the wall on Lap 132 damaged the suspension of his Cup car, ending his day prematurely.

The Hendrick Motorsports driver remains a title contender in the 2025 Cup Series standings but acknowledged the setback could cost him valuable playoff points.

“Days like this sting, but we’ll regroup and get after it next week,” Larson added.

Fans and analysts alike were quick to note that while the double DNF is a blow, Larson’s consistency and resilience could help him rebound quickly.

Larson and his team now shift focus to Pocono Raceway, where they hope to turn misfortune into momentum.
