Dawn Staley Inducted into FIBA Hall of Fame, Solidifying Global Basketball Legacy
COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina women’s basketball head coach Dawn Staley has officially been inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame, marking another monumental achievement in her iconic career. The ceremony took place Saturday night at the Bahrain National Theater, recognizing Staley’s lasting impact on the international basketball stage.
With this induction, Staley becomes one of the few to be enshrined in three major basketball halls of fame: the FIBA Hall of Fame, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame (Class of 2013), and the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.
Her credentials are unmatched. As a coach, Staley led the South Carolina Gamecocks to three national championships, including an undefeated 38–0 season in 2024. She is a five-time National Coach of the Year and has been named SEC Coach of the Year seven times.
Staley also holds the distinction of being the first former Naismith Player of the Year to win the Naismith Coach of the Year award. She is the only basketball coach—men’s or women’s—in South Carolina history to surpass 300 wins.
This latest honor underscores Staley’s unmatched influence on the game, celebrating her legacy not just in the United States, but on the global stage
as well.
