Kevin Durant and Devin Booker Invest $20 Million to Build Shelter for Homeless Youth in Phoenix
Phoenix, AZ โ May 2025 โ NBA stars Kevin Durant and Devin Booker are making a lasting impact off the court. The Phoenix Suns duo has announced a joint $20 million investment to transform a historic Phoenix property into a modern shelter for homeless youth, a project named “HomeCourt Hope.”
Set to open later this year, the shelter aims to provide more than just a roof over the heads of vulnerable young people aged 16 to 25. It will offer wraparound services including mental health care, educational support, career development resources, and life skills training โ all designed to help homeless youth find stability and long-term success.
The facility is being developed in response to the rising rates of homelessness in Phoenix, particularly among young adults aging out of the foster care system or fleeing abusive environments. Durant and Booker, both known for their philanthropic efforts, said the project reflects their desire to give back to the community that supports them.
โThis is bigger than basketball,โ Durant said in a statement. โWe want these young people to know theyโre not forgotten โ that thereโs a place for them, and people who care.โ
Booker added, โPhoenix is our home, and itโs our responsibility to be part of the solution. Everyone deserves a chance to feel safe and supported.โ
Community leaders and housing advocates have praised the initiative, calling it a model for athlete-led social impact. โHomeCourt Hope is a game-changer,โ said one local official. โIt will not only shelter youth, but empower them.โ
The shelter is expected to serve hundreds of young people annually and will partner with local nonprofits and service providers to ensure comprehensive, ongoing support. Durant and Bookerโs investment underscores their deepening legacy as champions โ not just in sports, but in service.
