Crystal Palace Legends Geoff Thomas and Mark Bright Donate £2 Million to Support Youth Sports in South London

In an inspiring show of gratitude and community commitment, Crystal Palace legends Geoff Thomas and Mark Bright have donated an impressive £2 million to their alma mater club to support youth sports development across South London.

The generous contribution will be delivered through the Palace for Life Foundation, the official charity of Crystal Palace FC, and is set to fund the construction of new training grounds, provision of equipment, and specialized youth coaching programs. The initiative is aimed at unlocking potential in underprivileged neighborhoods, giving children the opportunity to grow through sport and pursue dreams in football and beyond.

Both Thomas and Bright are beloved figures in Palace history. Thomas captained the Eagles during one of their most successful eras, including the 1990 FA Cup final, and has since been decorated for his tireless fundraising in cancer research. Bright, known for his iconic striking partnership with Ian Wright, has remained close to the club through youth mentorship and media involvement.

“This club and this community shaped who we are,” said Geoff Thomas. “We’re proud to invest in the next generation and give back to the borough that gave us everything.”

Mark Bright added, “Football gave us a future — we want to help these kids believe that their dreams are worth chasing too. This is more than football; it’s about hope, discipline, and unity.”

The donation is expected to impact over 10,000 young people through expanded programs over the next five years. Crystal Palace Chairman Steve Parish called it “a historic moment of generosity and legacy,” noting that both players “embody the soul of the club.”

With this gift, Thomas and Bright have not only strengthened their legacy, but also laid the foundation for the Eagles of tomorrow.
