April 25, 2025 – Columbia, SC
Dawn Staley, one of the most influential figures in the history of women’s basketball, is about to have her remarkable journey immortalized in a brand-new documentary set to premiere on Hulu later this year.
Titled Unbreakable: The Dawn Staley Story, the film will chronicle her inspirational rise from the streets of North Philadelphia to becoming a Hall of Fame player and one of the most decorated coaches in NCAA women’s basketball. Produced in collaboration with ESPN Films, known for their award-winning 30 for 30 series, the documentary promises a gripping and emotional dive into the highs and lows of Staley’s legendary career.
Staley’s story is one of perseverance, leadership, and trailblazing success. From her standout college years at the University of Virginia, her time competing on the global stage for Team USA, and her influential role in the WNBA, the film will capture the depth of her playing days. It will also explore her transition into coaching — culminating in multiple national championships at the University of South Carolina, where she turned the Gamecocks into a powerhouse program.
Through exclusive interviews with Staley, former teammates, players, and coaching peers, as well as behind-the-scenes access to her current coaching life, Unbreakable aims to show the woman behind the whistle — a relentless competitor, a role model, and a mentor to generations of athletes.
“This is more than just a basketball story — it’s a story about fighting for your dreams, lifting others, and leaving a legacy,” a Hulu executive said in a statement.
With Staley’s impact resonating far beyond the court, the documentary is poised to be a cultural milestone in the world of sports storytelling. Unbreakable is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Hulu in Fall 2025.
