Te-Hina Paopao Steps Up: WNBA Guard Brings Relief to Tornado and Flood Victims

WNBA standout and respected veteran Te-Hina Paopao is making headlines not just for her performance on the court, but for her compassion off of it. Over the weekend, Paopao personally led a relief effort to support victims of the recent tornadoes and flooding that devastated parts of Oklahoma and Texas.
Arriving with a team of volunteers and a truck packed with essentials—ranging from bottled water and non-perishables to blankets and hygiene supplies—Paopao was seen on the ground, distributing items and offering hugs and encouragement to those affected.
“I’ve always believed that leadership goes beyond the hardwood,” said Paopao. “These families have been through so much. If I can help lighten their burden even a little, then I’ve done my job.”
The 24-year-old guard, known for her calm presence and vocal leadership, partnered with regional non-profits and local high school athletes to organize the event. She also pledged $100,000 through her foundation to help rebuild community shelters and provide counseling for displaced families.
Local residents expressed deep appreciation. “She didn’t just show up for a photo op,” said Tasha Morgan, whose home was destroyed in the floods. “Te-Hina stayed, talked with us, handed out food, and made us feel seen.”
