Rick Wakeman to Shine in New Netflix Documentary Celebrating Progressive Rock Icons Yes
Legendary keyboardist Rick Wakeman is set to take center stage in a brand-new Netflix documentary spotlighting the progressive rock band Yes, with the streaming platform confirming a global release date of November 20, 2025.
The documentary, which has just wrapped production, will chronicle the groundbreaking band’s storied 50+ year journey through the lens of archival footage, rare performances, and in-depth interviews — with Wakeman’s visionary influence featured prominently throughout.
Wakeman, best known for his theatrical stage presence and intricate classical-rock fusions, joined Yes in the early 1970s and helped define the band’s iconic sound on albums such as Fragile, Close to the Edge, and his own acclaimed solo work The Six Wives of Henry VIII.
> “This film is not just about Yes — it’s about a movement, a mindset, and the people who dared to create something extraordinary,” said a Netflix spokesperson. “Rick Wakeman’s story is essential to that.”
The documentary will include new interviews with Wakeman alongside never-before-seen concert footage, rehearsals, and behind-the-scenes moments. Fans can expect an intimate look at his role in shaping not only the band’s sound, but the broader progressive rock genre.
Other band members, including Jon Anderson, will also contribute to the film, offering insight into Yes’s legacy and the unique dynamics that defined their most influential years.
Netflix has teased the project as a “visually immersive celebration” of music innovation, promising both longtime fans and newcomers a “front-row seat to history.”
