Cyclist Killed in Highway 175 Collision Near Middletown
A bicyclist was killed Monday evening in a tragic collision on Highway 175, just north of Middletown, prompting a full-scale emergency response and a temporary road closure.
The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 175 and Dry Creek Cutoff. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the cyclist was struck by a vehicle under circumstances that remain under investigation. Emergency personnel arrived swiftly on scene, including local fire units, but the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of their injuries.
CHP officers closed a portion of the highway to allow for accident reconstruction and evidence gathering. The roadway remained shut for nearly three hours, reopening shortly before 8:00 p.m.
