Anthony Davis and Anthony Hickey Jr. Pledge Multi-Million Dollar Gift to Boost Youth Development at Kentucky
Lexington, KY — Two of Kentucky basketball’s most celebrated alumni are giving back in a big way. NBA superstar Anthony Davis and 2011 Mr. Basketball Anthony Hickey Jr. have announced a multi-million dollar endowment to the University of Kentucky, aimed at expanding educational opportunities and youth development initiatives within the Wildcats community.
The gift will support a variety of programs focused on mentorship, academic support, leadership training, and community outreach for young people connected to the Kentucky athletics family. According to a joint statement, both Davis and Hickey are passionate about creating “a lasting impact” on the next generation of student-athletes and local youth.
“This university gave us the tools to succeed—not just on the court, but in life,” Davis said. “Now it’s our turn to invest in the future of Kentucky’s young leaders.”
Hickey echoed those sentiments, emphasizing the importance of giving back to the community that helped shape him: “We want every young person who comes through here to feel like they have the support they need to thrive.”
University officials have praised the gesture as one of the most transformative alumni donations in recent years, and a testament to the powerful legacy of the Kentucky basketball program.
The endowment will begin funding new initiatives in the upcoming academic year.
