Gamecock Legends A’ja Wilson and Aliyah Boston Establish Major Endowment for South Carolina Women’s Basketball
Columbia, SC – May 18, 2025 — South Carolina women’s basketball icons A’ja Wilson and Aliyah Boston have announced a transformative endowment to support the Gamecocks program, cementing their commitment to the legacy and future of the team that launched their careers.
The donation, one of the most significant athlete-led contributions in NCAA women’s basketball, will fund scholarships, player development programs, and support services. The endowment aims to ensure long-term stability and growth for the powerhouse program under head coach Dawn Staley.
“This is about giving back to the program that gave us everything,” Wilson said. “We want future generations of Gamecocks to have even more opportunities to succeed—on and off the court.”
Boston echoed the sentiment: “We’re proud to be part of a legacy that’s still being written. This endowment is our way of helping write the next chapters.”
The University of South Carolina Athletics Department celebrated the announcement, calling it a landmark moment in the history of Gamecocks sports. Coach Staley added, “What A’ja and Aliyah are doing shows the heart of true champions—not just in the game, but in life.”
This endowment marks a new era of athlete-driven philanthropy in college sports, led by two of the most influential figures in women’s basketball today.
