Kevin Durant is staying in the Valley — and he’s doing it in historic fashion.

The 15-time All-Star has signed a blockbuster four-year, $210 million contract extension with the Phoenix Suns, securing his services through the 2029–30 NBA season. The deal, one of the richest ever given to a player in his late 30s, underscores Durant’s commitment to the Suns’ championship aspirations — and definitively ends speculation of a potential move to the Houston Rockets.

“This is home,” Durant said in a team statement. “I’ve built strong bonds with the guys here, and I believe in our front office’s vision. I’m all in on bringing a title to Phoenix.”

The extension comes after weeks of buzz linking Durant to the Rockets, who had quietly expressed interest in adding a veteran leader to guide their youthful roster. League insiders confirmed that Houston made “initial feelers,” but Durant showed no interest in entertaining them.

“He’s laser-focused on winning now, and the Suns are built to compete immediately,” a source close to Durant said.

Suns general manager James Jones praised Durant’s leadership and consistency, saying: “Kevin’s impact goes beyond the box score. He elevates everyone around him. Locking him in through 2030 was a no-brainer.”

Durant, who turns 37 in September, averaged 26.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists last season while shooting over 52% from the field. With Devin Booker and Bradley Beal also under contract, Phoenix is doubling down on its veteran core in pursuit of a long-awaited NBA championship.
