SAN FRANCISCO — May 13, 2025

Longtime San Francisco Giants broadcaster Duane Kuiper made an emotional return to the broadcast booth this week, rejoining his iconic partner Mike Krukow — better known together as “Kruk and Kuip” — after a brief absence due to health-related issues.

Kuiper, 74, had stepped awayÒ temporarily in late April to address a minor medical procedure. His return was greeted with a standing ovation from fans at Oracle Park and heartfelt on-air tributes from players, coaches, and colleagues.

“It’s good to be back,” Kuiper said during the second inning of Monday’s game against the Dodgers. “I missed this view, I missed this game, and I missed this guy right here,” he added, gesturing to Krukow.

Mike Krukow, ever the emotional counterpart to Kuiper’s steady presence, choked up as he welcomed his friend back. “We’ve called a lot of games together,” Krukow said. “But having Kuip next to me again — that’s the best win of the season.”

The Kruk and Kuip duo, who began broadcasting together in 1994, are beloved by Giants fans for their humor, chemistry, and deep knowledge of the game. With Kuiper back, the legendary pairing is once again at full strength, ready to guide the Giants faithful through another memorable season.

“He’s the heart of the broadcast,” Giants manager Bob Melvin said. “When Kuip speaks, it feels li

ke baseball.”
