PHOENIX, AZ – In a heartfelt interview with local Arizona media this week, NBA Hall of Famer and legendary Phoenix Suns forward Charles Barkley reaffirmed his lifelong loyalty to the franchise that defined the peak of his career.
“Phoenix is home. The fans embraced me, the city embraced me, and I’ll always be a Suns guy at heart, no matter what,” Barkley said during a special event commemorating the 1993 Western Conference Championship team. “We didn’t win the title, but what we built here was special. That doesn’t go away. I’ll be a Suns fan until the day I die.”
Barkley, who played four seasons with the Suns from 1992 to 1996 and won the NBA MVP in 1993, remains a beloved figure in the Valley. He led the team to its second NBA Finals appearance in franchise history and continues to be a vocal supporter of the team on Inside the NBA.
“Every year when the season starts, I still believe the Suns can win it all. And when they do—man, that will be the happiest day of my life,” Barkley added.
The Suns recently honored Barkley by unveiling a mural outside Footprint Center, cementing his legacy not just as a player, but as a lifelong ambassador of the team.
