Greg Biffle Awarded 2024 Myers Brothers Award for Heroic Hurricane Relief Efforts

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 2025) — Former NASCAR Cup Series driver Greg Biffle has been honored with the 2024 Myers Brothers Award, one of the sport’s most prestigious recognitions, for his extraordinary humanitarian work following Hurricane Helene.

When the hurricane brought devastating floods to Western North Carolina and East Tennessee, Biffle quickly sprang into action. Using his personal helicopter, he launched “Operation Helidrop,” a grassroots relief effort that delivered vital supplies to stranded mountain communities. For nearly two weeks, Biffle flew from dawn to dusk, transporting food, water, insulin, and baby formula to people in need. His solo efforts soon inspired over 100 fellow pilots to join the mission, creating a widespread aerial relief network.

“I don’t want to take credit for this whole thing,” Biffle said while accepting the award. “Certainly, I’m getting a lot of credit, but there are so many people that have stories just like mine.”

Presented by the National Motorsports Press Association, the Myers Brothers Award celebrates individuals who make outstanding contributions to NASCAR both on and off the track. Biffle now joins a distinguished group of past recipients that includes legends like Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt, and Jimmie Johnson.

Beyond the award, Biffle has also been named the honorary pace car driver for the 2025 Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway—a nod to his commitment to helping others even after retiring from full-time racing.

Biffle’s response to Hurricane Helene is a reminder of the strong sense of community that exists within NASCAR and its alumni. His efforts have not only provided life-saving aid but have also inspired a renewed spirit of unity and service among fans, racers, and volunteers alike.
