After retiring from full-time NASCAR Cup Series competition at the end of the 2024 season, Martin Truex Jr. made a surprise return to racing in 2025. Truex partnered with Tricon Garage and attempted to qualify for the 2025 Daytona 500, driving the No. 56 Toyota Camry XSE with longtime sponsor Bass Pro Shops on board.

Truex successfully qualified for the Daytona 500 based on his lap time and started the race from the 39th position. Unfortunately, his highly anticipated comeback was cut short by a multi-car crash on lap 71, resulting in a 38th-place finish.

Despite the early exit, Truex Jr. expressed optimism about his future on the track. He confirmed plans to compete in additional NASCAR Cup Series races during the 2025 season, although the specific events have yet to be announced.

The 2017 NASCAR Cup Series champion’s partial return has excited fans, who are eager to see more of the veteran driver back where he made his mark — battling among the best in the sport.
