Nicole May and Kinzie Hansen Announce Major Endowment to Support Oklahoma Softball

In a landmark moment for Oklahoma athletics, former Sooners stars Nicole May and Kinzie Hansen announced today the creation of a multi-million dollar endowment to support the University of Oklahoma’s softball program. The initiative, revealed during a special ceremony at Love’s Field, marks one of the largest player-led gifts in the university’s history.

May and Hansen, both national champions and All-Americans, said the endowment is designed to provide long-term resources for scholarships, facilities, and player development initiatives. Their gift reflects a deep commitment to ensuring future generations of Sooners can continue Oklahoma’s tradition of excellence.

“Oklahoma softball gave me everything,” May said. “It’s where I grew, where I found my second family. We’re excited to invest back into the future of this incredible program.”

Hansen echoed those sentiments. “Being a Sooner is forever,” she said. “This endowment is about making sure future athletes have the same chance to live out their dreams and create a legacy.”

Both players played key roles in Oklahoma’s historic run of four straight national titles under legendary head coach Patty Gasso. May finished her career as one of the most consistent pitchers in the country, while Hansen stood out as a clutch-hitting catcher with a powerful presence behind the plate.

University President Joseph Harroz Jr. and Athletics Director Joe Castiglione praised the players’ generosity, calling it a “transformational gift” that will ensure Oklahoma softball remains at the forefront of collegiate athletics.

The endowment will begin funding initiatives for the 2025–26 season, helping sustain the Sooners’ championship culture for years to come.

“This program built us,” Hansen said. “Now it’s our turn to build it even stronger
