“Providence Strikes Gold: Star Transfer Alvaro Folgueiras Joins Friars to Fuel Big East Title Hopes”

Headline: Providence Friars Land Major Transfer as Alvaro Folgueiras Commits

In a major boost to their roster, the Providence Friars have secured a commitment from Spanish forward Alvaro Folgueiras, the 2024–25 Horizon League Player of the Year.

Folgueiras, who averaged 14.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game at Robert Morris, initially drew interest from top-tier programs like Kentucky. However, with the Wildcats’ frontcourt filling up, Folgueiras turned his attention to other schools, ultimately choosing Providence over Iowa and Villanova.

Standing at 6-foot-9 and weighing 215 pounds, Folgueiras brings size, versatility, and an impressive two-way game to the Friars. His ability to score efficiently, rebound aggressively, and defend multiple positions makes him a valuable addition to the Big East contender.

Providence head coach Kim English continues to reshape the program with experienced talent, and Folgueiras is expected to make an immediate impact as the Friars aim to climb even higher in the conference standings next

season.
