“Ty Gibbs Takes the Wheel On and Off the Track: NASCAR Star Becomes Youngest Team Owner at Joe Gibbs Racing”

Ty Gibbs Steps into Ownership Role, Continuing Joe Gibbs Racing Legacy

Ty Gibbs, the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion and 2023 Cup Series Rookie of the Year, is taking on a major new role in 2025: team owner. The young star will assume ownership of the No. 54 NASCAR Xfinity Series team, a bold move that continues the legacy of Joe Gibbs Racing while adding a new chapter to his own career.

Gibbs has already made a name for himself on the track. With an ARCA Menards Series championship in 2021, an Xfinity Series title in 2022, and a solid debut in the Cup Series, he’s proven he’s more than ready for the spotlight. Now, as he balances life as a Cup Series driver and Xfinity Series team owner, the pressure—and opportunity—are greater than ever.

Driving the No. 54 car under Gibbs’s ownership will be Taylor Gray, a promising young driver with Truck Series experience and select starts with Joe Gibbs Racing. Gray’s full-time move to the Xfinity Series aligns with the team’s forward-looking approach.

This transition also honors the legacy of Coy Gibbs, Ty’s father, who passed away in 2022. Joe Gibbs had retained ownership until now, making Ty’s move into ownership both a personal and professional milestone for the family.

As Gibbs steps into this new role, he’s not just racing—he’s building. His leadership will shape the next generation of talent and further cement the Gibbs name in NASCAR

history.
