Red Bull Racing Promotes Verstappen’s Engineer Amid Major Leadership Shake-Up
In a bold move to reinforce its Formula 1 leadership team, Red Bull Racing has promoted Max Verstappen’s long-time race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, to the newly created position of Head of Racing.
Lambiase, known for his calm and calculated communication with Verstappen over team radio, will continue working directly with the reigning world champion while taking on wider responsibilities across race operations, strategy, and car performance.
This leadership shake-up follows the recent exits of key personnel, including legendary designer Adrian Newey—who is heading to Aston Martin—and Jonathan Wheatley, who is reportedly joining Audi’s incoming F1 project as team principal.
Team Principal Christian Horner expressed confidence in the team’s internal strength, stating:
“We have world-class talent throughout our organization. These promotions are a testament to the people who have helped build Red Bull Racing’s success from the inside.”
Stephen Knowles has been named Head of Sporting Regulations, while Richard Wolverson steps in as Head of Racing Operations. Both will report to Lambiase, who now holds one of the most influential roles within the team.
As Red Bull looks to reclaim dominance amid rising competition from McLaren and Ferrari, all eyes will be on how this new structure impacts performance for the rest of the 2025 season.
