EXPLOSIVE 🛑 WVU STAR JJ QUINERLY SUSPENDED AFTER SHOCKING COLLISION IN BIG 12 SEMIFINALS — FOLLOWED BY PHYSICAL ALTERCATION!
MORGANTOWN — In one of the wildest scenes of the season, WVU women’s basketball star JJ Quinerly has been suspended one game following a shocking on-court collision with Oklahoma’s leading scorer during the Big 12 Tournament semifinals.
The incident happened midway through the 3rd quarter when Quinerly, known for her aggressive defense, appeared to lower her shoulder into the driving guard, sending both players crashing to the floor.
Things escalated moments later when Quinerly confronted the Oklahoma player during a timeout, exchanging heated words before shoving her in front of coaches and officials.
After a league review, the Big 12 announced Quinerly will serve a one-game suspension for unsportsmanlike conduct.
WVU head coach Mark Kellogg said in a brief statement:
“JJ plays with unmatched fire and intensity — but there’s a line, and she crossed it tonight. We support her, but respect the Big 12’s decision.”
Social media exploded following the altercation, with many fans split — some praising Quinerly’s passion, others criticizing her lack of composure in a critical game.
WVU will have to play the conference championship without their star guard.
