Phillip Schofield Reportedly Mocks Holly Willoughby in TV Comeback Series “Cast Away”
Former This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield has made his return to television with Channel 5’s new reality series Cast Away. The 62-year-old, who left the popular ITV show in 2023 following a scandal, reportedly mocks his former colleague Holly Willoughby during his first appearance back on screen.
In Cast Away, Schofield spends 10 days stranded on a desert island, documenting his personal reflections and the aftermath of his fall from grace. According to reports, he opens one episode by sarcastically asking, “Are you okay?”—a clear reference to Willoughby’s now-iconic line from her solo hosting of This Morning, which she used to address viewers after Schofield’s departure.
The series, which spans three episodes, features Schofield candidly addressing his life post-scandal. In 2023, he stepped down from This Morning after admitting to an affair with a younger male colleague, an event that led to the deterioration of his friendship with Willoughby. Reflecting on the past year and a half, Schofield says, “In the last 18 months my life has totally unravelled. I locked myself away from the outside world,” adding that his daughter Molly had helped him through severe mental health struggles.
Schofield had come out as gay in 2020 on This Morning in an emotional segment with Willoughby, who was then his close friend. However, the relationship between the two has reportedly soured, with the former co-hosts no longer on speaking terms.
Cast Away marks Schofield’s first return to TV after the scandal, offering a deeply personal account of his public downfall.
